Quality Over Quantity: My Craftsmanship Journey

Writing a bit about the quality of work for my online shop and the factors that I deem important for my work and my followers and also to give new insight into my choices of work that represents me to the online virtual audience.

What to put up online? The style of work of my sceramics and illustration is highly detailed and this is why I choose a “Quality” over quantity for the selection of my work for my blog and onlineshop. From my past experience of working abroad in the design field, I nootice that the competition is fierce, and that there are too many mediocre sites with work that is either same as others, with different price points and a vast selection of work that doesn’t fit the way I want to present my work online to perspective clients or followers.

Less work online that are sort of a collector’s starting point for those that are interested in peculiar work that is available for purchase. Though priced a bit higher than others, I strive for consistent craftsmanship and finishing details and now am looking at the possibilities of expanding the offer to the public as my business grows…..

What are your main objectives for having visibility online? Who are the people that you want to attract? How fast is your turnaround to pack and ship off items? All valid questions,as many of us have different answers and objectives to increase the flow of goods to new collectors and followers that are attracted to our work and want to own a piece for there own private collectors.

Choices of work for each individual are different for each. online shop creator. Mine , focuses on a selection of high quality work that seeks special collectors by providing work that is not as easily seen by the general public. Maybe more controversial themes that stand out amongst the mugs, cups or bowls of the ceramic community that become more one-of-a kind than other production potters. And I am not so worried about generationg large number of sales during the year, but focus on having a consistent presence of quality work available for sale, and an online presence that is available to followers or new clients interested in my work.

The end game is where do you want to be as you start out your online business, I find that I have less competitors than the normal production potters crowd, and more collectors that follow me and my work on social media that acquire my work. Each person’s jouney will be different,my aim is to not be overwhelmed by online orders so that i can continue to produce quality work and maintain quality and craftsmanship of the items that I choose to put online for sale.

What is the objective of your online presence of your work? Let me know and sorry about not postins so often on the blog, but life has made it difficult to keep a consistent blog going and work to produce has taken the majority of my time to craft, create and make rather than writing about it.

Peace out!
